Wu nominated for Commerce tech job

President Bush plans to nominate Benjamin Wu to be the assistant secretary for technology policy in the Commerce Department's Technology Administration.

Wu "is the ideal candidate to carry forward the administration's commitment to economic growth by maintaining our nation's technological preeminence," said Commerce Secretary Donald Evans.

Wu currently serves as deputy undersecretary of commerce for technology. Previously, he served as counsel for the House Committee on Science's Technology Subcommittee and the committee's Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee.

Well-known in the technology community, Wu has worked for the Technology Administration since its inception in 1989.
