Defense Department officials named five companies today eligible to bid on back-office software projects worth up to $1 billion.
Deloitte Consulting, Accenture, Bearing Point LLC, Computer Sciences Corp. and IBM Corp. can compete for task orders to support SAP AG, Oracle Corp. and PeopleSoft Inc. implementations.
Under the terms of the blanket purchase agreement, military officials can buy off-the-shelf software and services from any of the five companies. The services would support the DOD Secretary's office, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other defense agencies.
The contract was awarded under the DOD Enterprise Software Initiative, a project designed to implement a single enterprise software management process within the department.
