Anteon, Raytheon win Navy deal

Weeks after announcing a potential $843 million in contracts to three companies, the Navy has announced a second set of contracts worth an additional $726.2 million. The big winner in the contract announcements was Anteon Corp.

Navy officials announced last week they awarded a 10-year contract worth as much as $726 million to Anteon Corp., based in Fairfax, Va., and Raytheon Co., based in Reston, Va. Under the terms of the contract, Anteon and Raytheon will provide systems modernization support to the Navy Fleet Technical Support Center for the Atlantic fleet.

The companies will provide a range of services including legacy system modernization and new system development and support for combat systems and command, control, communications, computers and intelligence systems. Services will be provided for Atlantic and Pacific fleet ships, Foreign Military Sales and shore facilities.

For Raytheon, the base value of the contract was $30.2 million with a potential of nearly $378.5 million. Anteon's cut of the deal will be $30.9 million initially, with a ceiling of $347.7 million. Each contract, both indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity, has a one-year base period with nine one-year options.

In late May, Anteon was one of three companies awarded an IDIQ contract for several fleet support activities. The contract, which included a similar one-year base period and nine one-year options, has a potential value of $253.7 million.

The contractors will equally share the minimum guarantee of $100,000 at the time of award. The solicitation was issued under full and open competition and posted to the Navy Electronic Commerce On-line and the FedBizOpps.gov Web sites, with Raytheon's and Anteon's offers being the only ones received.

Last month, Anteon was one of three companies named to an $843 million IT contract largely related to work at naval facilities at Hampton Roads. Va.
