CTO of DISA to leave

Dawn Meyerriecks, the long-time chief technology officer for the Defense Information Systems Agency, will be leaving the government at the end of this month.

Rumors about Meyerriecks' departure have been spreading for the past two weeks. A senior Defense information official said Meyerriecks was leaving her post to work in the private sector.

Meyerriecks became CTO of DISA in 1999, after joining the agency in 1995. She previously worked as the chief architect for the Army's Global Command and Control Office. Prior to her service with the Army, Meyerriecks worked on defense projects at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. Last year, she was tapped to direct the agency's foray into network centric enterprise services (NCES).

NCES will provide enterprise services in support of the Defense Department's Global Information Grid (GIG), which will allow military and intelligence community officials to access information relevant to their missions, regardless of what agency operates the network where the data resides.

She received her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
