DFAS server sites merged
The Defense Information Systems Agency's Center for Computing Services consolidated DFAS from 10 sites to three.
The first part of the Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS) computer server consolidation project is complete.
Officials at the Defense Information Systems Agency's Center for Computing Services consolidated DFAS from 10 sites to three. They will call the new facilities Systems Management Centers, according to a July 2 DISA statement.
DISA officials found 41 instances of DFAS server applications at the 10 sites. The agency completed the system's phase-one project early and under budget, according to the statement.
In phase two, DISA officials will consolidate the remaining DFAS server applications and build a backup infrastructure for the system. The agency will complete the project next spring, according to the statement.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense wants the DFAS server consolidation project to increase operational efficiency and decrease processing costs.
