Five win $498M Air Force deal

The Air Force awarded a contract worth up to $498 million to five companies to provide information technology services to the group that oversees its supply operations.

The service's Materiel Systems Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, will use the five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for IT development, maintenance and process improvement. The winning companies include Accenture, Computer Sciences Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp. and Science Applications International Corp, according to a Defense Department contracts' announcement.

"The enterprisewide solutions that will be provided through the [Air Force Enterprise Information Technology Acquisition] program are absolutely key to establishing the collaborative work environment that battle commanders need," said Pete Rogers, vice president for combat support capabilities in Lockheed Martin's Integrated Systems and Solutions division in Gaithersburg, Md., in a July 13 company statement.

The EITA program runs through June 2009. Service officials started the solicitation in October and completed negotiations in May, according to a DOD statement.
