The Social Security Administration will require that employers file their annual W-2 reports over the Internet beginning in 2006, the agency said in a notice in the Federal Register June 16.

The Social Security Administration will require that employers file their annual W-2 reports over the Internet beginning in 2006, the agency said in a notice in the Federal Register June 16.SSA will stop accepting magnetic tapes and cartridges beginning Jan. 1, 2006, and floppy disks beginning Jan. 1, 2007. Instead, employers must file their wage reports electronically or use third-party preparers through the Business Services Online, a set of Internet services for companies to conduct business with the SSA.
