The Multi-National Force in Iraq has chosen Altiris Inc.'s software to manage networks and information technology assets, according to company officials.

The organization, formerly the Coalition Provisional Authority, also tapped a company called 3H Technology LLC to help install the software. The costs were not disclosed.

The acquisition is part of the effort to rebuild war-torn Iraq, in partnership with the new Iraqi government.

"We are obviously facing the challenges of a third-world, war zone infrastructure," said a spokesperson for the Air Force in a written statement. "Despite the environment we're in, we need to maintain several separated networks with thousands of workstation and desktop users. We were facing significant IT challenges and Altiris provided us an integrated solution to manage our entire network infrastructure."
