TSP board names deputy CIO

Mark Hagerty, a career federal information technology executive, will become the deputy chief information officer at the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board Aug 23.

Hagerty, who was chief of the National Security Agency's office of mission assurance, will fill the new position at the board, which runs the Thrift Savings Plan. The plan handles $115 billion in federal retirement money.

"I'm looking forward to an opportunity help them improve their service to the company, keeping the cost low and service high," Hagerty said. "It's a delicate balance, keeping overhead as low as possible, making sure we have a good foundation for the automated system in terms of streamlined processes and keeping staffing costs down."

Hagerty will be deputy director of the board's automated systems, working for Larry Stiffler, the board's director of automated systems. Prior to taking the NSA job, Hagerty worked for NASA for more than 10 years in a variety of positions.
