Unisys to help DOD with health care records

The Defense Department has awarded Unisys Corp. a contract potentially worth more than $130 million to provide worldwide implementation and training services for the department’s electronic medical records system.The Composite Health Care System, or CHCS II, will provide electronic medical records for approximately 9 million military health care beneficiaries, including active-duty military personnel, retirees, reservists and family members.CHCS II maintains medical records for life and was designed for quick access and easy use. DOD developed it to support health care services at all Air Force, Army and Navy military hospitals and clinics, aboard ships and at deployed medical facilities.The system integrates government software with commercial products. Under the contract, Unisys will provide training for approximately 60,000 Defense health care personnel at 75 military hospitals and 600 clinics worldwide.
