Unisys wins DOD health system contract

The Defense Department awarded a $31 million contract for implementation and training services to Unisys Corp. The contract pertains to DOD's electronic medical records system, called the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) II.

The system will provide electronic medical records for 9 million military health care beneficiaries, including active-duty military personnel, retirees, reservists and family members.

The contract has a base term of one year, with a possible $2 million in incentives on top of the $31 million. Three one-year options are under the same terms, making the total possible value $132 million.

"DOD deserves credit for being at the vanguard of this emerging healthcare issue," said Greg Baroni, president of Unisys Global Public Sector. "The services Unisys provides in support of this contract will ultimately help make life easier for millions of American military men, women and families."
