Joint Forces plans ISR forum

Joint Forces Command officials will meet with leaders in government, industry and academia next week to discuss improving the sharing of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) information between warfighters and analysts in Defense Department agencies.

The forum, "Transforming ISR for the Joint Warfighter," will focus on processing ISR data so warfighters can more readily use it and combining it with other intelligence information. The event will include presentations on:

• Joint warfighting capabilities from an operational ISR perspective.
• The integrated ISR concept.
• Unmanned aerial vehicle integration.
• The Multi-sensor, Aerospace-ground Joint ISR Interoperability Coalition advanced concept technology demonstration.
• ISR in joint urban operations.

The forum is scheduled for Oct. 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Va. It is free, but attendees must register at https://webapps.jwfc.jfcom.mil/Frontend/welcome.html.

The event marks the second in the past 30 days in which military leaders emphasized ISR data sharing.

Officials at the Strategic Command announced at the Government Symposium on ISR Transformation last month that they will turn to officials at the Defense Intelligence Agency for help in developing and implementing the military's new global ISR plan. The strategy includes creating a global ISR center that could make better use of military systems and platforms to more quickly attack the small, mobile targets encountered in the war on terrorism.
