Metier wins ERA work

Métier Ltd. officials announced today a subcontracting deal with Lockheed Martin Corp. to partner on the National Archives and Records Administration's Electronic Records Archives design project.

Lockheed Martin's Transportation and Security Solutions unit was chosen as one of two companies that will design a technological solution to the challenge of preserving electronic information across space and time. Lockheed Martin officials selected Métier, which specializes in portfolio management software and services, to provide dynamic and real-time integrated cost and schedule management for the portfolio. The two companies have worked together before.

"Lockheed Martin selected Métier for the schedule management because of our positive experiences in collaborating with Métier on previous programs," said Tom Kelley, Lockheed Martin's deputy program director for the NARA ERA contract. "Métier's proven predictive software made them a key partner for us on this contract."

The companies declined to reveal the value of the Métier contract.

ERA is intended to be a comprehensive system for preserving virtually any kind of electronic record. NARA officials are supposed to have an operational archive by 2007. They expect the system's development to cost $500 million by its completion in 2011.
