Northrop wins first NetCents bid
The deal to support Cisco hardware is the first competitive award under the Air Force's NetCents program.
Officials at Northrop Grumman announced today they received a $1 million contract to provide support services for the Air Force's Cisco Systems' equipment -- the first task order competitively awarded under the service's multi-billion dollar Network Centric Solutions (NetCents) program.
Northrop Grumman officials will administer maintenance services for the Air Force's Cisco hardware and software to quickly find and fix problems to keep the service's network up and running. The Netcents task order covers five years, according to a Nov. 29 company statement.
Northrop Grumman's team members for Netcents consist of 10 large companies and 24 small businesses. They include AT&T, Dell, RS Information Systems and SI International, said the statement.
Air Force officials awarded eight indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contracts in September under the five-year, $9 billion NetCents program. Vendors who qualify for the IDIQ contracts can then bid on individual awards.
The initiative provides service officials with a new contract for buying net-centric technologies, networking equipment and services, and voice, video and data communications hardware and software.
