Singer to leave Adobe

Adobe's senior director of government e-paper solutions will join a database administration vendor.

Mike Singer, Adobe Systems senior director of worldwide government e-paper solutions, will leave the company in early December to head a major push by database administration vendor Embarcadero Technologies into the government market.

Singer, who starts in his new position Dec. 6, said Embarcadero has already managed to gain a significant amount of government business without really putting any kind of focus on it.

"That shows there is a natural affinity in government for the kinds of products Embarcadero delivers," he said, "so my job will to bring expertise and focus that can build on that."

As the company's senior director for worldwide government operations, Singer will stand up a full-fledged Washington-based government organization. That will basically mean taking a small group of people that already deal with government and making it a more disciplined force, he said, though he also expects to hire some new people.

Singer said he hopes to at least double Embarcadero's government revenues by the end of the new office's first year.
