DHS chooses E-Travel vendor

The Homeland Security Department today announced that it has chosen EDS Corp. to provide electronic-travel services under the E-Travel Services Quicksilver program.DHS Electronically Managing Enterprise Resources for Government Effectiveness and Efficiency program staff selected EDS over two other E-Travel program vendors, Carlson Wagonlit Government Travel Inc. of San Antonio and Northrop Grumman Corp. Homeland Security spokesman Larry Orluskie said EDS’ online FedTraveler.com system emerged from DHS’ evaluation as the system that most effectively met the department’s requirements.DHS agencies will set separate deals with EDS for their e-travel needs. The President’s Management Agenda mandates that agencies comply with the E-Travel initiative overseen by the General Services Administration, Orluskie said.“EDS will provide a web-based reservation service as well as implementation support, and training and customer support. The eTS program scope includes travel planning, cost estimating, approval processing, reservation booking and activity reporting,” the department said in a statement.
