The House wants information on systems that would account for personnel during evacuations and crisis situations.
Technologies would keep track of House occupants, including members, staff, contractors, vendors and visitors, in assembly areas on the Capitol campus, in remote locations and in transit. Officials hope to provide timely information about the locations of personnel to first responders, law enforcement and House officials.
A recently issued request for information states that responses are due by Feb. 15 to the Office of Procurement.
Proposed solutions should have a real-time, 3-D, geographic information system display of the building evacuation and provide two phases of data. They are:
* Short-term accountability/building empty status. Within 60 minutes of an evacuation, this phase should provide data by room and floor, showing the status of personnel check-in based on where they are in the building.
* Long-term/100 percent accountability. This phase should provide data from telephone calls, e-mail messages or Web-based responses within 24 hours, refining initial reports to provide a complete picture of personnel status.
The House employs about 13,500 people.
