FirstGov.gov Asia Tsunami Disaster
Tsunami-related Web links from the federal government, the Red Cross and other agencies working in the affected region of Southeast Asia are now available on FirstGov.gov. The link appears inside the "In Focus" box on the official government portal home page.
FirstGov has gathered on a single page State Department and Red Cross Web addresses meant for people searching for U.S. citizens affected by the disaster. Also on the page are links to umbrella organizations sending relief to areas destroyed by the sea wave that ripped through the Indian Ocean following an underwater earthquake Dec. 26 that measured 9.0 on the Richter scale.
The FirstGov page also collects links to news updates from U.S. embassies, Pacific Command and the United Nations. Links to frequently asked questions about tsunamis and satellite photos of the affected region are also available.
FirstGov content managers say they plan to update the site as additional information becomes available.
