M/A-COM to build Va. comm system
The company will install an 800 MHz digital system for the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Emergency Communications Center.
Officials in a Virginia county and city have awarded M/A-COM an $18.9 million contract to create an interoperable communications system for their public safety agencies.
In collaboration with the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Emergency Communications Center, officials at the company, which is a business unit of Tyco Electronics, will build an 800 MHz Enhanced Digital Access Communications System IP network backbone adhering to Project 25 communication standards. The new system would replace conventional low-band and UHF systems that provide limited coverage.
