ManTech gives licenses to Search

Search: The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics.

ManTech International has donated 40 perpetual licenses of its NetWitness network forensics analysis software to a nonprofit group called Search: The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics.

Search works with state and local justice agencies to plan their information and identification technology needs. The organization also provides training in crime investigation. Its officials plan to give the ManTech licenses to state and local law enforcement personnel, who will use the software to hone their skills at tracing Internet connections back to individual computers.

"Looking at raw network data can be quite intimidating to law enforcement professionals," said Fred Cotton, computer training specialist at Search. "The clarity that NetWitness offers them will lead to a better understanding of the traffic."

"Officers new to cyber forensics investigations and dealing with electronic evidence will benefit from training with NetWitness," said Robert Coleman, president and chief operating officer at ManTech.

NetWitness forensically collects and analyzes data so that e-mails, instant messaging and other network events can be easily reviewed. ManTech designed the system specifically for analysts and investigators.
