CACI gets Navy sensor work

CACI International this week announced a $9.8 million Navy contract for sensor network engineering and other services.

The integrator will provide services to support the Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability, an electronic defense system. The recompeted contract calls for integrated logistics and test evaluation services in addition to sensor network engineering. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, awarded the 4-year contract, which extends work CACI began in 1998.

The award was made as a task order under the Navy’s SeaPort Enhanced contract vehicle. Randy Fuerst, executive vice president at CACI, told analysts at a recent conference that he has seen General Services Administration schedule business move to SeaPort Enhanced.

"We are seeing a lot of migration," Fuerst said. "We are putting a lot of resources in that area."

CACI’s SeaPort Enhanced contract runs through April 2019, a span that includes award term options, according to the company. The contract covers all Naval Sea Systems Command Program Executive Offices, Directorates, Warfare Centers, and Field Activities.

The CEC system, meanwhile, integrates data obtained from sensors on ships and aircraft to create a common air defense tactical display. CACI said the technology provides for earlier detection and more consistent tracking of air threats.
