Defense looks to AT&T unit for GIG-BE support work

The Defense Department has awarded AT&T Government Solutions a five-month, $14 million subcontract to provide engineering and installation work at key locations in the United States and abroad for DOD’s Global Information Grid Bandwidth Expansion project, the company said today.AT&T is subcontractor to Science Applications International Corp., prime contractor on the $3 billion award for the project known as GIG-BE. The project is the foundation of the Defense Information Systems Agency’s network modernization efforts.Under the subcontract, AT&T engineers will install and test equipment to activate key hub locations where traffic from the high-speed global grid is switched and monitored.
