DOD's Deidre Lee goes to GSA

Deidre Lee, director of defense procurement and acquisition policy, will join the General Services Administration in August as assistant commissioner for integrated technology services. She will be part of the new Federal Acquisition Service, which will replace the current Federal Supply Service and Federal Technology Service.

Barbara Shelton, acting FAS commissioner, announced Lee's appointment today. Lee will begin her new duties Aug. 8.

In her new role, Lee will have responsibility for FAS technology and professional services offerings to customer agencies. She will also be in charge of the acquisition workforce and for creating and delivering technology and telecommunications initiatives.

In a written statement, GSA Administrator Stephen Perry expressed appreciation for Lee's decision to join the agency.

"She is a distinguished leader in the federal acquisition community, and she brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be very beneficial to our ongoing efforts to achieve excellence in acquisition services at GSA," he said in the statement.

Lee has worked with GSA on initiatives in the past, including the "Get It Right" campaign designed to ensure field employees follow procurement rules.

“The timing of Dee’s arrival could not be more perfect,” Shelton said in a written statement. “This will enable her to be integrally involved in helping to complete the organization design and implementation of the recently announced plan to consolidate our Federal Technology Service and Federal Supply Service into a single organization.
