SBA exec moves to Agriculture

Jerry Williams, the acting chief information officer of the Small Business Administration, is slated to be the No. 2 official for information technology at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Williams will replace Dave Combs, acting deputy CIO, said USDA spokesman Jim Brownlee.

Williams will work under the successor to Scott Charbo, the USDA CIO whom President Bush nominated June 20 to be the new CIO of the Homeland Security Department.

Williams' last day at the SBA will June 24, SBA officials said.

A 20-year veteran in the federal government, Williams has served as the SBA's acting CIO since August 2004. He served as the agency's deputy CIO from July 2003 to August 2004. Prior to that, he worked at the Office of Management and Budget and the Defense Department on financial management and IT.
