CherryRoad protests Army portal contract award

CherryRoad Technologies has protested the Army’s award of the Army Knowledge Online (AKO) Enterprise Services contract to an industry team led by Lockheed Martin.

The protest, filed Wednesday, appears on the Government Accountability Office’s Web site. GAO must render a decision by Oct. 28.

“We believe the protest is without merit and that the government will prevail,” said Army Col. Tom Hogan, deputy program executive officer in the service’s Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems.

“We’re confident of our position,” said Debbie Yobs, a CherryRoad spokeswoman. The company currently administers the portal.

Lockheed Martin does not comment on protests, said company spokesman Matt Kramer.

“We’re honored to have been chosen by the Army for the contract,” Kramer said. “We stand ready to support our Army customer.”

When Army officials awarded AKO earlier this month, they said the $152.1 million contract is a performance-based contract. Under the contract, the Lockheed Martin-led team will administer the service’s Web portal and oversee its knowledge management program. The contract has a one-year term with six option years.
