Arkansas renews deal with NIC for e-government services

Arkansas has awarded a three-year, multimillion-dollar contract renewal to NIC Inc. to continue providing e-government portal services.

Arkansas has awarded a three-year, multimillion-dollar contract renewal to NIC Inc. to continue providing e-government portal services, the company announced this week.Through the contract, NIC of Olathe, Kan., currently provides the state with more than 300 interactive services, a comprehensive payment center, criminal background checks, child support payments and a transportation industry portal. The state portal processed more than 2.2 million transactions for 170 state and local government agencies last year.The contract renewal was approved by the Information Network of Arkansas Board. The 12-member committee oversees portal operations, reviews agency agreements with the Arkansas Information Consortium, sets policies and approves new portal services.
