Army awards e-learning contracts
The contracts support a program that gives soldiers access to college and vocational courses online.
The Army will support its Distributed Learning Education and Training Products program with $483 million in indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts, which it recently awarded. The program gives soldiers access to college and vocational courses that they can complete online wherever they are stationed.
Officials at Karta Technologies announced Aug. 10 that the company has been awarded one of the prime contracts. Karta bid with a team of 17 companies that included CACI, IBM and SRA International.
“The Army’s Training and Doctrine Command has spearheaded the initiative to keep the Army’s forces trained with up-to-date information and processes,” said Ken Guest, Karta's chief operating officer and a retired Army two-star general.
An industry official familiar with the contract award said Karta was one of several companies to receive contracts. The company and the Army did not immediately respond to requests for information on the other winners.
