BearingPoint will expand support for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention’s terrorism preparedness office under a new agreement that could be worth up to $15 million over five years.
The McLean, Va.-based company has been supporting the agency’s Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response (COTPER) since October 2002 with strategic planning, performance management, evaluation and reporting, application development, grants management and daily program management.
COTPER provides strategic direction and scientific and technical expertise, establishes priorities, conducts performance management assessments and serves as a central point of contact for key stakeholders.
Under the new agreement, BearingPoint will assist with activities such as tracking, evaluating and reporting on the office’s current 115 projects as well as implement and monitor a strategic plan.
The company will also help develop standardized policies and procedures and performance indicators for COTPER’s recently established business services division. Work will also include design and development for the division’s Web site.
Among other things, BearingPoint will also continue to manage and support the Centers for Public Health Preparedness Program, a $35 million grant program to help train public health workers to respond to bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks and other health emergencies. As part of this program, CDC has incorporated more than 40 accredited public health schools and other academic institutions into a national network to develop training protocols and deploy necessary skills and information.
The agreement is worth $3.2 million in its first year with four annual options that could boost the contract’s value to $15 million.
