CSC, Unisys win IT support work

Computer Sciences Corp. and Unisys have won new work from military customers. CSC will do Web work for the Defense Technical Information Center, while Unisys announced a Navy task order for software support duties.

Under a new $42.3 million contract, CSC will support DTIC’s Web hosting facilities, providing about 50 Web and applications developers, systems administrators and other information technology workers to DTIC headquarters at Fort Belvoir, Va., and other DTIC locations. The contract could support as many as 80 public, limited-access and classified DOD Web sites, according to CSC.

The contract, which has a four-year base period and one two-year option, is parallel to a hosting support contract that DTIC awarded CSC in 2001. That pact covers five years and is worth $25 million.

In addition to hosting and application support, CSC will establish single sign-on network capabilities. CSC also will expand full-text search, content management systems and Web portal offerings, the company said.

Unisys, meanwhile, has been awarded a software support task order with the Navy’s Military Sealift Command’s Atlantic area of responsibility.

The project could be worth as much as $5.4 million if all options are exercised. Unisys will maintain and upgrade the command’s applications.

The contract covers several payroll and management systems. The primary application is the Unified Civilian Mariner Payroll System, according to a Unisys spokeswoman. Unisys will maintain interfaces to systems in a number of organizations, including the Federal Reserve Bank, Social Security Administration, National Finance Center and Thrift Savings Plan.

The task order has a one-year base period and three one-year options.
