Accenture gets DLA data-management deal
The integrator will support an initiative to increase the accuracy and accessibility of product data that the agency needs to make informed decisions.
Accenture has won a $6.3 million contract to provide information technology services for the Defense Logistics Agency’s Product Data Management Initiative.
The contract covers the initial phase of the project and calls for Accenture to provide document management services, business process re-engineering, change management services, training and organizational design. It also covers the automation of crucial business processes, according to Accenture.
The company will design the business processes for DLA’s Technical and Quality Policy Division, supporting data related to aircraft launch and recovery and the ordering of repair parts, among other functions. The company will also direct a change management program for DLA and its customers and business partners.
According to a Defense Department budget document, the initiative’s objectives include increasing the accuracy and accessibility of data needed to make informed engineering, technical and quality decisions that support procurement actions.
Northrop Grumman is one of several subcontractors working with Accenture on the project.
Accenture is also a contractor on DLA’s Business Systems Modernization effort, which involves the deployment of SAP and Manugistics software.
