CSC nabs Defense Transportation contract

Computer Sciences Corp. has captured a $51 million contract to provide portfolio management and information technology investment management services for the U.S. Transportation Command.

CSC will develop plans, processes, tools and analyses for the Defense Department’s transportation- and distribution-related IT systems, according to the company. CSC will assign 56 employees to the project. Personnel will include business process reengineering specialists, systems analysts, and financial analysts.

CSC has worked with the U.S. Transportation Command since at least 1998, when the integrator was selected as one of 11 vendors to provide IT services to the command’s Military Traffic Management Command component.

In 2004, CSC captured another military transportation deal: a $146 million contract to integrate the Army’s transportation information systems.

CSC’s teammates on its latest Transportation Command contract, announced on Tuesday, include Dynamics Research Corp., MCR Federal, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, SRA International and Unisys.
