DiPentima joins SRA board

Renato DiPentima, chief executive officer of SRA International, has been appointed to the company's board of directors, according to an SRA announcement. Gail Wilensky, an economist and senior fellow at Project HOPE, was also named to the board.

Project HOPE, which stands for Health Opportunities for People Everywhere, is an international health education foundation. Wilensky analyzes and develops policies regarding health care reform and is also a commissioner on the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Determinants of Health and an elected member of the Institute of Medicine.

Wilensky serves the public health community in several other roles as well, including as vice chairwoman of the Maryland Health Care Commission and as a trustee of the Combined Benefit Fund of the United Mine Workers of America, the American Heart Association and the National Opinion Research Center. She also advises the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Commonwealth Fund. She is the immediate past chairwoman of AcademyHealth’s board of directors and serves on several corporate boards.

DiPentima, who is also the company’s president, became CEO in January, following the retirement of founder Ernst Volgenau. Volgenau still serves as chairman of the board. Before DiPentima's promotion to the CEO spot, he was president and chief operating officer at the company. He joined SRA in 1995 after leaving the Social Security Administration, where he had been deputy commissioner for systems.

He also serves on the boards of McData, the Information Technology Association of America and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. He is a principal at the Council for Excellence in Government and a fellow at the National Academy of Social Insurance.
