DOD office buys tracking software

The Defense Department’s Washington Headquarters Services awarded ProSight a $1.3 million contract to use the company’s Portfolios software to manage the organization’s information technology projects, ProSight announced Dec. 6.

The DOD division will use the software to automatically track IT projects, a process that spreadsheets and people currently do. The organization employs 1,300 workers who provide building maintenance, financial management, human resources and IT help-desk services to support the Office of the Secretary of Defense, according to a company statement.

“Portfolio management is a proven, objective method for ensuring the most valuable investments receive funding, while weaker proposals are eliminated,” said Rob Cox, chief information officer of the DOD division.

“Implementing portfolio management assists Washington Headquarters Services in aligning resources to mission objectives, optimizing IT investments and eliminating waste,” said John Cimral, ProSight’s chief executive officer.

The $1.3 million contract marks the second deal with the military for ProSight. The Army Small Computer Program purchased 5,000 licenses of ProSight Portfolios and ProSight Fast Track solutions in April to help implement IT portfolio management servicewide.
