EDS creates new government position

Kevin McFarling, a 20-year EDS veteran who briefly left the company last year, rejoined his old outfit and was named vice president of service delivery for government business.

In the newly created position, McFarling will oversee implementation services and operations of a range of information technology services for the company’s federal, state and local government customers.

Last October, he joined Perot Systems as president of its government health care solutions. H. Ross Perot, who founded Perot Systems in 1988, also founded EDS in 1962. He sold EDS, long known as Electronic Data Systems, in 1984. The two companies are not affiliated.

Before his stint at Perot Systems, McFarling had served as EDS’ vice president of service delivery at the company’s state and local government division, which provided Medicaid, welfare eligibility and local infrastructure products and services.

He started at the company in 1985 at its Sacramento Information Processing Center in California and has held a number of positions primarily in the government division.
