Interior names acting deputy CIO

Bill Corrington will serve as acting deputy chief information officer at Interior while the department looks for a permanent deputy.

Bill Corrington will temporarily serve as acting deputy chief information officer at the Interior Department while it searches for a permanent deputy CIO, Interior officials said today.

Corrington is on temporary detail from the Interior's Bureau of Land Management, where he serves as BLM deputy CIO. While he is substituting, Scott MacPherson will handle Corrington's BLM responsibilities.

The deputy CIO position has been vacant for nearly a year. Interior officials said they expect to decide on a full-time deputy CIO within a few months.

Corrington is not a candidate for the position. He will return to BLM at the end of his assignment.

Corrington, who came to the department from Gartner, has worked at Interior for about two years as an information technology manager.
