TSA extends ITMS work with bridge contract

Unisys will continue building and managing information technology services for the Transportation Security Administration and the Homeland Security Department’s headquarters, TSA and Unisys officials announced today.

The agency signed a bridge contract with the company that allows the integrator to continue its work on the Information Technology Managed Services (ITMS) contract after it expires Jan. 10. TSA estimates the contract to be worth $308 million in its first year -- $265 million for TSA and $43 million for DHS.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has one base year with two one-year renewal options, with a total value of up to $750 million.

Authorized in August 2002, ITMS helped get TSA up and running after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The new contract also encompasses the migration to DHS’ new departmentwide IT procurement programs, TSA officials said in a statement. First Source will handle IT commodities, and the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge solutions program will cover IT services.

Work under the new contract began Jan. 1, Unisys officials said in a statement.
