DOD names procurement head

Shay Assad will take the role April 2.

The Defense Department has replaced Deidre Lee, who left her position as director of Defense procurement and acquisition policy in 2005 to join the General Services Administration.

Shay Assad, currently assistant deputy commandant for installations and logistics at the Marine Corps, will take the acquisition role April 2, according to a DOD announcement.

Lee, meanwhile, is leaving GSA for a position as acting deputy director of operations at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
