Motorola combines several business units

Motorola is reorganizing several business units, including the government division, into one organization.

“This reorganization will allow us to strengthen our position in providing end-to-end network infrastructure solutions to private, public and enterprise customers worldwide,” Edward Zander, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a press release last week.

With a more streamlined structure, Zander said, the company will be able to improve marketing of current and next-generation technologies and increase cost savings, among other things.

The new organizational structure combines the company’s Networks division, which is primarily a radio access business, with the Government and Enterprise Mobility Solutions division. Greg Brown, who is currently president of the government unit, will head the revamped division, which will be called Networks and Enterprise.

Adrian Nemcek, who has led the Networks division for the past five years, will retire from the company later this year.
