NASCIO calls for IT awards nominations

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) is seeking nominations of state government information technology projects for its annual awards honoring achievement in the field.

In its 18th year, the organization’s awards program has 10 categories and is open to any state government IT program or system. A NASCIO committee of state and corporate members will select winners that support public policy goals, help improve government efficiency and provide cost-effective services, among other considerations.

The categories are:

• Business Continuity, which relates to continuity of operations following natural or manmade disasters and other major infrastructure failures.


• Cross-Boundary Collaboration and Partnerships, which addresses the coordination, sharing and integration among public entities and others of IT goals and strategies, governance and management, policies, architecture and standards, business processes, and other elements.


• Data, Information and Knowledge Management, which addresses strategies, processes, applications, initiatives or programs that use, process or create information, such as data mining, analytics and other solutions.


• Digital Government: Government to Business for applications that support cost-effective regulatory processes that help establish or expand businesses.


• Digital Government: Government to Citizen for applications that provide a service or improve government efficiency with citizen interaction.


• Digital Government: Government to Government for initiatives enhancing intergovernmental collaboration or cross-jurisdictional services.


• Enterprise Architecture, which includes the design, development or implementation of a framework consisting of technical, business, information and service-oriented architectures.


• Enterprise IT Management Initiatives, which refers to statewide initiatives.


• Information Communications Technology Innovations, which covers initiatives or services to promote economic development or interoperability and improve quality of life.


• IT Project and Portfolio Management, which addresses the policies and governance of IT investments.
