NIH issues RFI for data solutions

The National Institutes of Health has issued a request for information to get a better understanding of data extract, transform and load (ETL) solutions.

Currently, NIH uses multiple integration mechanisms for data sharing among applications and database management systems. Much of the remote database access and file access middleware the agency uses are bundled with such systems and network operating systems. NIH hopes to supplement its current software with ETL capabilities to improve information transfer between its databases.

NIH is interested in the following technologies:

• Real-time, remote access to database environments.
• Remote connectivity to database management systems environments using a common Application Programming Interface.
• The ability to move and copy data between databases.
• The ability to change data syntax and semantics for data transfer.

NIH seeks an ETL solution that would fit within existing standards, technologies and systems. Responses to the RFI are due April 28 at 4 p.m.
