Saab launches services unit
New subsidiary is part of company's drive to score DOD business.
The U.S. subsidiary of Saab AB has launched a services firm that will focus mainly on Department of Defense opportunities.
The new venture, Saab Services USA, is part of Anteon’s team competing for the Army’s Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support contract, which is slated for award in January 2007. Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman are also members of the team.
Saab Services USA is based in Sterling, Va. It will also have an office in Orlando, Fla.
The Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support contract will consolidate separate simulation and training support contracts into a single vehicle.
Saab, based in Stockholm, Sweden, is better known in the U.S. as an automaker, but the company was originally created to manufacture military aircraft. Saab's defense-related offerings include command, control and communication systems; integration services; and technical consulting services.
