Appian supplies management software for DISA e-commerce

Appian will provide its business process management software to help build an e-procurement system for the Defense Information Systems Agency.

The software firm is a member of the Pearson Analytic Solutions team that captured a $22.8 million DISA contract to develop an enterprise business modernization system, which aims to improve the management of the agency’s procurements. Pearson Analytic Solutions, a systems integrator, announced the pact in April. The system will support DISA’s Procurement and Logistics/Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization.

Specifically, Appian will supply its Government Acquisition Management solution, which the company described as the core of DISA’s enterprise business modernization system. Government Acquisition Management is a Web-based product that, among other things, tracks acquisitions, enforces Federal Acquisition Regulation compliance and generates reports on contractor performance. The software also includes processes for indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity blanket purchase agreements and set-aside contracts, according to Appian.

Appian announced a similar e-procurement project in October 2005 with the Securities and Exchange Commission valued at $2.8 million. Other Appian e-procurement customers include the Marine Corps and the World Bank. E-procurement solutions let agencies purchase equipment and services via the Internet.

BEA Systems, Oberon Associates, SRA International and the Newberry Group join Appian on the DISA deal.
