OMB’s Koller moving to DOD

Jack Koller, the government-to-citizen portfolio manager for the Office of Management and Budget’s e-government projects, is joining the Defense Department.Koller, who also served as a senior policy advisor to OMB administrator for e-government and IT Karen Evans, will become the special assistant to the undersecretary of Defense in the comptroller’s office. He will be working on Defense budget, appropriations and public affairs issues. He will start June 12.He became a portfolio manager in March 2004 and oversaw five e-government projects, including some of the most successful and complete ones: GovBenefits, Recreation One-Stop and IRS Free File. Koller is a political appointee.Before coming to OMB, Koller worked at the Energy Department with Evans as a senior policy adviser providing strategic and tactical guidance to fulfill e-government initiatives. He also worked for former Sen. Spencer Abraham (R-Mich.), who also served as secretary of Energy.Koller received his bachelor’s degree in Christian studies and political economy from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.
