Senate schedules Doan hearing
GSA administrator nominee will face Senate questions soon.
Lurita Alexis Doan, President Bush’s nominee to lead the General Services Administration, will begin her confirmation hearings before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee May 22.
Lawmakers and GSA leaders consider Doan well qualified and speak highly of her. David Bibb, GSA’s acting administrator, wrote in an April memo that Doan’s nomination was great news.
“I am very, very pleased with the president’s choice," Bibb wrote. "She is obviously more than capable.”
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the committee’s chairwoman, said, “She has an impressive background as an entrepreneur. She brings a lot of enthusiasm."
The hearing will be held May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
