Come Monday, Holcomb starts work at Lockheed

Lee Holcomb will complete three years of work on homeland security issues and a career of government service June 28 when he leaves his post as the Homeland Security Department's chief technology officer.

Beginning July 3, Holcomb will start a new job at Lockheed Martin Information Technology. He will focus on ensuring program excellence for the company's high-profile programs.

Earlier this month, Holcomb announced he was going to retire and take a private-sector IT job.

Holcomb joined the White House’s Homeland Security Office in 2002 and joined DHS in 2003. He has worked in the federal government since the 1970s and is a former NASA chief information officer.

Holcomb is widely respected in the federal IT community. In June 2005, the Association for Federal Information Resources Management named Holcomb the winner of its 2005 Executive Leadership Award for his outstanding leadership at DHS.
