DRS Technologies names Sheehan to head Tactical Systems unit

Sheehan will manage the unit's strategic activities and operations.

Michael Sheehan has joined DRS Technologies’ C4I Group in Gaithersburg, Md., as president of the group's Tactical Systems strategic business unit. Sheehan will manage the strategic activities and operations of the company's DRS Tactical Systems Inc. unit in Palm Bay, Fla., and the DRS Tactical Systems Ltd. unit in Britain.

The Tactical Systems unit builds high-performance, mission-critical rugged computers and workstations that support a wide variety of military modernization and command, control, communications, computer and intelligence applications.

Most recently, Sheehan was vice president of marketing and business development for Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector, where he oversaw domestic and international business development for the sector's seven business units. Earlier, he spent 18 years with BAE Systems' Communications, Navigation, Identification and Reconnaissance business in roles that spanned product engineering, systems engineering, program management and business development.

Sheehan has an M.B.A. from Columbia University, an M.S. in electrical engineering from Drexel University, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Lehigh University.

DRS Technologies, based in Parsippany, N.J., is a supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. The company employs approximately 10,000 people.
