OMB official receives federal IT award

Robert Shea, counselor to the deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget, received this year’s Executive Leadership Award for Information Resources Management from the Association for Federal Information Resources Management, OMB announced June 13.

AFFIRM presents the award to individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership in the information technology community.

Shea earned the award for his role in evaluating federal programs through the Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) and giving the public access to the ratings at the OMB-hosted Web site ExpectMore.gov.

“Robert has succeeded in making ExpectMore.gov an effective and accessible tool for both taxpayers and the federal government,” said Clay Johnson, OMB’s deputy director for management. “His efforts have delivered real results.”

PART identifies programs’ strengths and weakness so agencies can pinpoint where improvements are needed. Eighty percent of federal programs have been assessed, and the remaining 20 percent are scheduled for assessment this year.
