OPM takes to TV to recruit workers

Cincinnati was chosen for the campaign because of the large number of federal job openings in and around the city.

The Office of Personnel Management has begun a TV ad campaign to recruit workers as part of the federal government’s strategy for dealing with a wave of retirements.

The campaign, which began June 18 and runs through July 1, seeks to capture the attention of highly qualified job candidates in the Cincinnati area. Cincinnati was chosen because of the large number of federal job openings in and around the city, according to an OPM statement.

“There are thousands of interesting and important careers available right now in the federal government,” OPM Director Linda Springer said in the statement. The ad campaign is the first of its kind and is aimed at making people “aware of the opportunities that can be found for those wanting to serve their country and make a difference.”

“OPM is committed to ensuring the federal government has an effective civilian workforce so the vital services provided to the country will continue for years to come,” she added.

The ad campaign, which was unveiled at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., also calls attention to the federal government’s Web site for job seekers, USAJobs.
