Raytheon buys simulation company
Virtual Technology Corp. built training software for DOD.
Raytheon has acquired Virtual Technology Corp. (VTC), a developer of modeling and simulation solutions. The companies did not disclose the acquisition’s terms.
The privately held company, based in Alexandria, Va., performs several types of modeling and simulations, including training.
VTC developed the Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System, software that the Defense Department has used to train more than 5,000 users in various warfare conditions.
“With VTC, Raytheon is adding cutting-edge capabilities that are critical to our customers and our position in net-centric operations and mission system integration,” said Colin Schottlaender, president of Raytheon’s Network Centric Systems, in a statement.
Raytheon, based in Waltham, Mass., posted $21.9 billion in sales in 2005. It is a major DOD service provider in electronics, space information technology, technical services, and business and special mission aircraft.
