Balutis resigns from Input

Alan Balutis, president of government strategies at Input since January 2005, resigned the post today.

Balutis sent a brief e-mail message to a long list of recipients announcing that he had submitted his resignation "in order to pursue other opportunities." He did not elaborate further.

"I have enjoyed my time here; it is a vibrant and dynamic firm," he wrote.

Balutis has had a long and varied career in government and the private sector. He joined the Commerce Department in 1983 and served as deputy chief information officer before leaving in 2000 to become director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Advanced Technology Program.

He left government altogether in 2001 to become executive director and chief operating officer for the Federation of Government Information Processing Councils--now called the American Council for Technology--and the Industry Advisory Council, which was a FGIPC organization and is now part of ACT.

In 2003 he became president and chief operating officer at consulting firm Veridyne.
